Description
This lot comprises 4 cartons containing a group of assorted framed artwork and picture frames. The collection includes a variety of media such as photographic prints, engravings, mixed media, and original works. Notable items include a large photographic print of city light trails in a wooden frame with an integrated power cord; a white-framed photograph of a blue van titled Kombi, Bondi and bearing a signature reading Hill; and an abstract mixed media collage on handmade paper with a signature reading V. Albers.
The assortment also features a black-and-white print titled Ronda Ladies signed Judy Willoughby and numbered 21/100; a monochrome engraving titled Embarkation of the Greeks for the Trojan War with text reading William Linton, del. and Butterworth and Heath, sculp.; and a hand-colored landscape engraving marked Willm Scott del and Printed by C. Hullmandel. Further contents include an oil painting of a bird signed Pat Booth, an abstract textile piece, and several decorative gilt and wooden frames, one of which contains a mirror.
Condition report:
The frames show varying degrees of wear consistent with use. Several gilt-composition frames exhibit chips and losses to the decorative molding (photos 1, 9, 10). The wooden frames show surface scuffs and scratches to the finish (photos 1, 12). The large light-trail photograph shows some rippling to the paper within the frame (photo 1). The power cord on the light-trail frame appears soiled and has not been tested (photo 12). The mirror glass appears intact without visible silvering loss or cracks (photo 9).
