Description
A framed and glazed expressive watercolour on heavy-weight textured paper titled Venetian View by the artist S A Thompson. The work depicts an abstracted architectural facade with three arched bays rendered in gestural washes of ochre, pink, and terracotta, positioned between a bold cobalt blue sky and foreground water. The paint application is characterised by visible drips and layered translucent washes. The work is signed to the lower right of the composition in black ink with the initials SAT followed by a horizontal flourish. The reverse of the frame retains a white adhesive label printed with SATTHOMPSON and includes London contact numbers. Hand-inscribed in black ink on the same label is the title Venetian View, the date 2000, and the medium Watercolour. The piece is presented within a white card mount and a simple light-wood frame.

Condition report:
The watercolour itself remains in good condition with vibrant colours and no visible signs of fading or paper damage (photo 2). The white card mount exhibits significant areas of staining and scattered foxing, most notably towards the lower right corner (photo 1, 3). The light-wood frame shows minor surface marks consistent with handling.
