Description
This lot comprises a framed landscape painting on paper. The work, titled Studio Garden, is executed in acrylic paint with an expressive, gestural technique using a palette of varied greens, ochres, and cool greys to depict a lush garden scene with dense foliage and skeletal tree trunks. The paper has deckled edges visible within the mount. The painting is presented in a dark-stained wooden frame with a gilded inner lip and a multi-layered cream mat. The lower right corner is signed in yellow paint with a conjoined J and R followed by the characters RODGER and the date 19 85 below. The reverse features a typewritten rectangular label with rounded corners reading 19. STUDIO GARDEN acrylic 1985 £380.

Condition report:
The painting appears in good condition with no visible foxing, water damage, or fading to the pigments. The multi-layered mat displays light toning consistent with age (photo 1). The dark-stained wooden frame shows minor superficial wear to the edges (photo 1). The adhesive label on the reverse shows light surface staining and spotting (photo 4). The backing board exhibits some light wear and old tape residue (photo 4).
