Lot 16:
Description
A nine-drawer apothecary-style chest constructed from stained softwood. The unit features a dark brown stained top and side panels with a black-finished frame.
The front is decorated with hand-painted folk art motifs in a raised paint style using a variety of colours including red, green, yellow, and blue. The design features a large central circular motif spanning the drawer fronts, containing a black-and-white checkerboard medallion. Each drawer is fitted with a dark metal ring pull on a scalloped backplate. The drawers are built with butt-joint construction and have stained wood interiors.

Condition report:
A significant chip and loss of wood is present at the top right rear corner (photo 7). There is a smaller chip to the bottom rear corner of the right side panel (photo 2). The stained top and side panels exhibit scattered surface scratches, scuffs, and minor wear to the finish (photos 2 and 4). Minor chips and losses to the hand-painted decoration are visible along the edges of the drawer fronts (photo 6). The drawer interiors show light staining and natural variations in the wood grain (photo 1).
