Description
This lot comprises a nine-drawer chest constructed from stained softwood with an elaborate polychrome hand-painted finish. The drawers are arranged in a three-by-three grid and feature simple nailed construction with stained interiors. The frontage is decorated with a large circular motif spanning the drawer fronts, incorporating a central black and white chequered circle surrounded by floral and foliate patterns. The design consists of stylised vines, red and yellow flowers, and scrolling green leaves against dark blue and cream backgrounds, finished with white and red dot-work. The carcass top and sides are finished in a dark brown stain. Each drawer is fitted with a patinated metal ring pull mounted on a decorative backplate.

Condition report:
The top surface exhibits significant wear including multiple scratches, scuffs, and areas of finish loss (photo 3). The painted drawer fronts show minor edge wear and small chips to the paint, specifically at the corners (photo 1). The metal ring pulls show a natural aged patina and minor oxidation (photo 5).
