Lot 2:
Description
A hand knotted Persian wool carpet featuring a central medallion design on an ivory field. The design incorporates a large multi-lobed central medallion decorated with floral patterns in salmon pink, navy blue, and burgundy, set within a field densely populated with scrolling vines, Shah Abbasi floral motifs, and palmettes. The main border consists of a wide salmon-coloured band containing repeating floral cartouches and scrolling leaves, flanked by smaller guard borders. The reverse is fitted with leather reinforcement strips along the long edges. An adhesive white cloth label from the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines is attached to the reverse, reading IRANISCHER HANDGEKNÜPFTER TEPPICH, IRANIAN HAND KNOTTED CARPET, and IRANIEN TAPIS FABRIQUÉ Á LA MAIN. The label identifies the locality produced as TABRIZ, the size as 2,90 X 1,95, the design as Medallion, and the pile quality as Dawn. Further markings include Exporter Membership No. 399, Serial-No. 430101, and Carpet-No. 431. A small green tag numbered 48 is also attached. The carpet features a high knot density of approximately 25-27 knots per inch.

Condition report:
The carpet is in good overall condition. The pile appears consistent with no visible areas of heavy wear or significant staining (photos 1 and 2). The cotton fringes are present and generally intact at both ends, though they exhibit slight unevenness in length (photo 3). The edges are straight and well-maintained with leather reinforcement strips to the reverse long edges (photo 1).
