Description
A large hand-knotted wool area rug on a cotton foundation, featuring an all-over decorative floral design. The carpet displays a repeating pattern of stylized floral palmettes, leaves, and vine scrolls across a continuous open field, lacking a central medallion. The composition is framed by multiple guard bands and a primary border echoing the floral and geometric motifs of the central field. The colour palette comprises muted terracotta and rust tones with faded blue and cream accents. The weave is a relatively coarse, low-density construction, showing approximately 7 to 8 knots per linear inch.

Condition report:
The rug is in a distressed condition consistent with a vintage aesthetic. There is overall low pile with significant areas of heavy wear where the foundation is visible (photo 1 and 2). The selvages and ends show minor fraying and unevenness (photo 4). The colours appear faded across the entire surface (photo 1).
