Description
This lot comprises two wall clocks produced by Vitra, based on mid-century modern designs by George Nelson. The first is a Sunburst wall clock featuring a minimalist white circular central dial. The outer frame consists of twelve tapering wooden rays in a multi-coloured palette of black, light blue, orange, and lime green. It is fitted with a black hour hand with a broad, pointed tip, a black minute hand with an orange triangular tip, and a thin black second hand with a grey oval counterbalance. The second item is a Ball wall clock, featuring a white circular central dial with twelve brass-toned metal spokes radiating from the centre, each tipped with a natural-finish wooden sphere. The hands consist of a black hour hand with a triangular tip and a black minute hand with an oval tip. Both clocks feature a circular black adhesive label on the reverse reading: Design: George Nelson, 1948 – 1960 vitra. Each clock is powered by a quartz movement housed in a black plastic casing with a green setting wheel, marked IEC R6 and ABS. Each requires one AA battery.
