Description
A Christofle silver plated circular serving tray featuring a modernist design. The piece is constructed with a flat, raised rim and an integrated handle formed by two parallel metal bands arching over the circumference. The underside bears three distinct stamped marks: a square cartouche containing a central scale symbol flanked by the letters O and C; the incised name Christofle in serif characters; and a rounded cartouche containing a stylized knight chess piece and the number 10. The underside also shows areas of brown and golden oxidation alongside white residues.
Diameter: 39 cm.
Condition report:
The tray exhibits heavy surface oxidation and tarnish across the upper and lower surfaces, displaying a varied patina of blue, brown, and golden tones (photo 1). There are numerous surface scratches and scuff marks visible to the interior and rim consistent with use (photo 1). The underside shows significant tarnish and patches of white, chalky residue (photo 3). The integrated handle remains structurally intact but displays heavy tarnish consistent with the tray body (photo 1).
