Description
A Christofle MOOD Precious flatware set presented in a signature ovoid storage capsule. The capsule is constructed from copper-finished stainless steel with a circular walnut wood interior disk featuring precision-cut slots for the upright storage of the flatware. The set comprises assorted silver-plated stainless steel items including table knives, dinner forks, and dinner spoons, accompanied by after-dinner teaspoons gilded with 18-carat pink gold.
The base of the capsule is marked with the maker’s name ‘Christofle’ and the ‘OC’ scales device (Orfèvrerie Christofle). The knife blades are etched with the name ‘Christofle’. Small hallmarks are visible on the shanks of the forks and spoons consistent with French silver-plate and gilding marks. The lot includes the original cardboard outer box, a protective cloth dust bag with the ‘Christofle’ name printed in silver, and an informational pamphlet titled ‘MOOD PRECIOUS Christofle’. The pamphlet provides a schematic for the interior disk and describes the 18-carat pink gold gilding of the coffee spoons.
Condition report:
The set is in very good condition with the flatware showing a high-polish finish and minimal signs of handling (photo 5). The copper-toned capsule displays a high-lustre surface with some light handling marks and surface dust visible (photo 1). The internal walnut disk is intact with no visible splitting or wear to the wood (photo 2). The protective cloth bag is clean with clear silver printing (photo 4). The original cardboard box shows some shelf wear and a small tear to the top corner flap (photo 1).
