Lot 2:
Description
A fine weave hand knotted silk rug on a cotton foundation, featuring a traditional Persian Kheshti or garden pattern. The field is composed of a grid of individual rectangular compartments, each containing various botanical and classical motifs including cypresses, weeping willows, flowering trees, and botteh symbols. The colour palette includes muted sage greens, ivory, and taupe tones within the central field. The main border is set against a salmon ground and decorated with scrolling floral arabesques and large palmettes, enclosed by multiple minor guard borders with geometric and floral patterning. The weave is tight and consistent, with approximately 10 to 11 knots per linear inch (horizontally). The rug is finished with ivory-coloured fringes at both ends.

Condition report:
The rug is in very good condition. The wool pile is even across the entire surface with no visible areas of low pile, thinning, or moth damage (photo 1). The fringes are intact and show minimal wear, and the side cords appear secure (photo 4). The colours remain vibrant and uniform throughout the design (photo 2). No repairs, staining, or structural defects are visible in the provided photographs.
