Description
4 cartons containing an assortment of household goods and decorative items, predominantly silver plate over base metal. The lot includes a group of table lamps comprising three designed as fluted Corinthian columns on stepped square bases and a matching candlestick base converted for electrical use; two are fitted with UK plugs and bayonet bulb holders.
The decorative animalier collection includes a pair of large pheasants with extended tail feathers, a smaller pheasant, and a large figure of a fighting cock. Also present are two silver-toned rearing horses, a pair of verdigris-patinated bronze-style “flying horse” figurines, and a pair of dog-form knife rests.
Tablewares and holloware include two teapots (one featuring a gadrooned lid), a circular gallery tray with an engraved foliage centre, two clam-shell shaped dishes, a pierced bonbon basket with a swing handle, several creamers and sauce boats, and a small cigarette box. Lighting is further represented by a pair of tall, stylized palm tree-form candlesticks, various assorted candlesticks, and two three-light candelabra branches.
Condition report:
Significant tarnishing and wear to the plating is visible across the lamp bases, exposing the underlying yellow-toned base metal (photo 4). The pheasant figurines show some bending to the feathered elements (photo 2). One shell dish exhibits advanced green copper carbonate corrosion, indicating a copper-alloy base (photo 3). General surface oxidation, pitting, and heavy tarnishing are present throughout the tablewares (photo 3). The palm tree candlesticks show wear to the finish, and various smaller candlesticks contain wax residue (photo 5). No sterling silver hallmarks are visible; items are consistent with silver-plated manufacture.
