Description
A watercolour on paper by Hans Schwarz (1922-2003) depicting a landscape with trees and buildings. The work is signed in red script H Schwarz and dated 87 to the lower right corner. The piece is presented in a dark-stained wood frame under glass. The reverse of the frame bears a printed adhesive label from the Thackeray Gallery, 18 Thackeray Street, Kensington Square, London, identifying the artist, title, medium, and size as 50 x 38 inches, with a recorded purchase date of 18 March 1988. Also present on the verso is a handwritten artist label repeating the title and artist name. The composition shows a canopy of foliage in the foreground with red-brick residential buildings visible beyond.

Condition report:
Minor surface scuffs and small nicks are visible to the edges of the wooden frame (photo 1). There is dust and light debris trapped behind the glass (photo 1). The Thackeray Gallery and artist labels on the verso show light foxing and brown staining (photos 4 & 5). The backing board exhibits several areas of adhesive residue and paper tearing where previous tape has been removed (photo 3).
