Description
This lot comprises a contemporary limited edition screenprint titled Scratchy by Francois Van Reenen. The work features a multi-panelled composition including portraits of various dog breeds including a pug, a boxer, and a bulldog, interspersed with surreal vignettes such as figures taking tea in padded horizontal tubes and a man working on a car engine containing a human skeleton. The composition is overlaid with chaotic red and blue linear scribbles. A text box to the centre-left contains a rumination regarding ‘Acne Vulgaris’. The print is presented under glass with a wide white mount in an off-white wooden frame.
The lower-left margin bears a handwritten edition number ‘1/15’ in ink. The lower-centre margin is inscribed with the title ‘”Scratchy”‘. The lower-right margin is signed and dated ‘FVR 2006’. The signature may alternatively be read as ‘FUR’.

Condition report:
The print appears in excellent condition with no visible foxing, toning, or handling creases to the paper (photo 2). The frame exhibits minor surface scuffs and light wear to the outer edges and corners (photo 1).
