Description
A collection of assorted porcelain collector plates occupying nine cartons. The lot contains a large variety of themes, with a primary focus on military aviation. Notable items from The Danbury Mint ‘The Classic RAF Aircraft’ series by Melvyn Buckley include De Havilland Mosquito (Subscriber No. 1478), Supermarine Spitfire (Subscriber No. 1327), and Hawker Hurricane (Subscriber No. 1149), which are accompanied by certificates of authenticity. Royal Worcester ‘Legends of the Air’ limited edition plates include The Bristol Beaufighter Plate and The Wellington Bomber Plate.
The collection further includes octagonal firefighting vehicle plates featuring Fire Station No. 27 and City of Newark Fire Dept scenes with signatures reading M G Strosheka. Popular culture subjects include a Hamilton Collection Star Trek plate titled Captain Jean-Luc Picard and a carousel scene signed Sandi Lebron. A Royal Doulton plate is present in a box with an adhesive label reading VICTORIA PLATE. Additional plates feature maritime sailing vessels, Native American imagery, and a blue and white transfer-printed scene titled De Winter. Many plates are stored in original protective polystyrene and cardboard packaging.
Condition report:
The porcelain plates appear to be in unused condition, with many remaining in their original polystyrene and cardboard shipping containers (photo 1). No visible chips, cracks, or surface losses are evident to the displayed pieces (photos 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10). Documentation and certificates of authenticity are present for several of the named series (photos 2, 3, 9). The outer cardboard storage boxes show typical signs of wear, including surface dust and adhesive tape residue (photo 8).
