Description
This lot comprises a collection of assorted books across seven cartons, encompassing literature, science fiction, and reference works. The inventory includes multiple Folio Society editions in original slipcases, notably Grimm’s Fairy Tales illustrated by Arthur Rackham, Hans Andersen’s Fairy Tales illustrated by W. Heath Robinson, and multi-volume sets by Graham Greene and P.G. Wodehouse. Also featured is a group of Charles Dickens Complete Works Centennial Edition volumes in green cloth with decorative gilt-blocked spines, including titles such as Oliver Twist, Dombey & Son, and Barnaby Rudge. The collection contains J.K. Rowling Harry Potter series titles published by Bloomsbury in both hardcover and paperback formats. Reference and genre fiction works are present, including The Star Trek Encyclopedia, Star Trek Deep Space Nine Companion, Aleister Crowley Magick, and titles by Terry Pratchett, Bernard Cornwell, and Ellis Peters.
Condition report:
The collection exhibits condition ranging from fair to very good. The Folio Society slipcases show light scuffing and minor edge wear (photo 1). The Charles Dickens Centennial Edition volumes appear well-preserved with bright gilt to the spines (photo 3). Slipcased P.G. Wodehouse sets are contained within their original illustrated boxes (photo 4). Older hardback volumes show rubbing to the boards and wear to the spine ends (photo 5). The J.K. Rowling paperback editions show visible spine creasing and edge wear, while the hardcover volumes retain their original dust jackets with minor shelf wear (photo 6). Various trade paperbacks and reference books show typical signs of use including creased spines and minor cover rubbing (photo 7, 8).
