Description

This lot comprises a hand-knotted Persian rug originating from the Nain region. The ivory field is decorated with a complex array of scrolling vines, palmettes, and floral Shah Abbasi motifs in navy, light blue, beige, and tan. The central multi-lobed medallion is executed in navy and ice blue tones, a theme repeated in the corner spandrels. The piece is constructed with a wool pile and features silk highlights to the outlines of the floral decoration. It is woven on a cotton foundation. The underside edges are finished with hand-stitched brown leather reinforcing strips. Observation of the provided metric scale indicates a knot density of approximately 7 to 8 knots per linear centimetre.

Approx. 170 x 260cm.

Condition report:

The rug appears to be in excellent condition with no visible faults. The pile is even throughout with no visible signs of wear or thinning (photos 1, 4 and 5). The colours are bright and uniform with no apparent fading or bleeding (photo 2). The side cords and cotton fringes are intact (photo 4). No stains, repairs, or structural issues were observed.
