Description

This lot comprises an assortment of Southeast Asian decorative pieces found in a carton containing several distinct sculptures featuring Buddhist and Hindu iconography. The first item is a Thai-style Buddha head mounted on a metal stand, featuring a dark brown and black patinated finish. The head is decorated with a flame-like jyoti atop the ushnisha and snail curls, with elongated earlobes and an urna on the forehead. The second item is a large cast Buddha head in the Khmer style, mounted on a rectangular light-coloured wooden plinth. It possesses a broad face with a grey-green patina and incised urna. The third item is a fragmentary female deity sculpture, possibly a Devi or Tara with a rich brown patina and green verdigris oxidation. The figure is depicted wearing a pleated sarong with a decorative waistband and is mounted on a modern black rectangular base. The fourth item is a small seated Buddha figure in the dhyana mudra meditation posture, constructed from a cast stone or concrete composite with a granular, weathered texture and draped in pleated robes.
