Description
A large Persian Nain rug. The rug features a traditional star-shaped central medallion set upon an ivory field, surrounded by a dense, all-over pattern of scrolling floral vines, leaves, and palmettes. The composition is enclosed within multiple borders, with the primary border having a navy blue ground and repeating floral motifs. The colour palette is characteristic of the Nain region, dominated by shades of ivory, navy blue, and light blue, with chocolate brown and minor red accents. The rug is constructed with a wool pile on a cotton foundation.
Approx. Dimensions: 255 x 147cm.
Condition report:
Generally fair condition. There are several visible areas of brownish staining and discoloration across the ivory field, particularly noticeable in the centre and lower-right quadrants. The short white fringe is intact at both ends but shows signs of age and light fraying.
