Description
A Victorian mahogany writing table manufactured by Robert Strahan and Co. of Dublin. The rectangular top features an inset green leather writing surface with a gilt-tooled border. The frieze contains two drawers, each fitted with two brass ring pulls on circular backplates. The piece is supported by four turned and tapered legs terminating in brass ferrules. An original printed paper label is affixed to the interior of one drawer, reading: Established A.D. 1776. Robert Strahan and Co. Cabinet Makers and Upholsterers, Auctioneers and Undertakers, 24 and 25 Henry Street, and 5 Leinster Street, Dublin. The drawer interiors are constructed from secondary timbers.

Condition report:
The table is in an unrestored condition with signs of age and use. The green leather top shows wear, fading, and staining, with some lifting and minor losses at the edges. The mahogany frame and legs exhibit surface scuffs, indentations, and wear to the finish. The drawer interiors have historic ink staining. The brass hardware is original with a mellow patina, though one ferrule on a front leg is slightly loose.
