Description
A group of motor racing and speed record-themed artwork and photography, comprising offset lithograph prints, exhibition posters, and photographic prints. The collection includes several limited edition, signed prints by the automotive artist Michael Turner, including Mansell Magic (numbered 11/500) depicting Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna at the 1991 British Grand Prix, and Mon Ami Mate (numbered 218/500) featuring Mike Hawthorn and Peter Collins at the 1957 German Grand Prix. Further Michael Turner works include a depiction of Alan Jones in the Williams Saudia FW07. Also present is a limited edition print of Gilles Villeneuve titled Lap of the Gods, numbered 004/250 and signed J. Hogg, and a Benjamins 88 print titled Full Power showing Donald Campbell’s Bluebird K7 at Coniston Water. The group features large-scale posters including a 1992 Imola exhibition poster for Gilles Villeneuve with artwork by Giovanni Cremonini, and official posters for the 1993 Indianapolis 500 and the 1995 Canadian Grand Prix. The lot is completed by several colour photographic prints of Nigel Mansell in the Williams-Renault, including one depicting a trackside engine fire. Materials include paper, card mounts, and various wood or composite frames under glass.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition with some signs of handling and age. Several prints are framed, while others are mounted on backing boards. Minor creasing is visible to the edges of the unframed posters. A notable horizontal crease is present on the lower portion of the Gilles Villeneuve Lap of the Gods print. Some frames show light scuffing and surface wear to the edges.
