Lot 153:
Description
This lot comprises two decorative cast sculptures of varying styles and materials. The first sculpture depicts a seated Buddha in the Dhyana Mudra meditation pose, characterised by traditional iconographic features such as snail-shell curls, a prominent ushnisha, and monastic robes draped over both shoulders. It is fashioned from a dark-grey cast composite material with a weathered, textured finish, likely magnesium oxide or a similar fibre-stone resin. The second piece is a Neoclassical-style figure of a partially draped woman, possibly Aphrodite or Venus, holding a small spherical object in her raised right hand. This figure is cast from a white material resembling plaster or bonded marble and stands on an integral rectangular plinth. No manufacturer marks or artist signatures are visible on either object. Buddha: 30 cm (h) x 26 cm (w) x 18 cm (d) approx. Female Figure: 48 cm (h) x 16 cm (w) x 12 cm (d) approx.
Condition report:
