Description
A hand-knotted Persian Heriz rug from Northwest Iran, featuring a wool pile on a cotton foundation. The design comprises a multi-tiered geometric medallion in shades of navy, pink, and cream, set upon a madder red field. The field is decorated with stylized, rectilinear floral and foliate motifs. Ivory-ground corner spandrels contain similar geometric floral elements. The main border is navy blue with a repeating stylized Samovar pattern, flanked by narrow floral guard stripes. The reverse shows a knot density of approximately 30-35 knots per square inch. Approx. 150 x 200cm.
Condition report:
Generally good condition with consistent pile throughout. Colours remain well-preserved. Fringes are present and appear intact.
