Description

A collection of UK promotional commemorative medal sets and historical educational replica coin folders. The lot includes multiple presentation folders for The Official England Squad Medal Collection 1998, issued by Sainsbury’s, containing silver-toned base metal medals featuring portraits of football players and management. Also present are folders for the Sainsbury’s Makers of the Millennium Medal Collection, produced in association with Guinness World Records, containing base metal medals depicting significant historical figures such as Winston Churchill and William Shakespeare, alongside several loose medals from the same series. The collection features two Yesterday’s Money carded sets containing genuine British pre-decimal currency, including bronze pennies and nickel-brass threepence coins. Educational material includes a variety of shield-shaped cards and informational folders containing replica coins from various periods of British history, including the Viking Age, the House of Tudor, Mediaeval Times, and the House of Stuart. Specific historical folders detail the reigns of George III, Richard III, and William I, housing plated base metal replicas. The items are primarily housed in their original card and paper promotional packaging.

Condition report:

The collection is in overall good condition. The promotional folders and carded packaging exhibit varying degrees of shelf wear, including edge scuffing, minor creasing, and light surface soiling. Several of the medal folders are incomplete with vacant slots. The medals and coins show minor signs of handling and surface oxidisation consistent with age and storage. Plastic film on the carded sets shows light scratching.
