Lot 98:
Description
A large scale contemporary abstract expressionist mixed media painting on canvas.. The composition is executed across two joined square canvases and features a central explosion of vibrant yellow and ochre tones, balanced by a soft grey wash to the upper right. The work is grounded by dark, gestural applications of black and umber paint across the lower horizontal section.
The surface displays a dynamic range of techniques including fluid washes, splattered ink droplets, and thick sculptural impasto that provides significant physical depth and relief to the central area. A section of cellular, lace-like brown ink effects is visible in the lower right corner. The diptych is housed in a slim, modern black metal tray frame. No artist signature or marks are visible on the face of the work.
149.5 x 149.5cm.
Condition report:
The painting appears to be in excellent condition with no visible signs of craquelure, paint loss, or restoration to the impasto or washes (photo 1). The black metal frame shows some very minor scuffing at the corners consistent with handling (photo 2).
