Lot 94:
Description
This lot comprises five cartons containing a collection of assorted ceramic tableware, including partial tea services, dinner services, and decorative plates. The cartons contain a variety of porcelain and earthenware items featuring various decorative techniques.
Included in the assortment is a tea service featuring deep cobalt blue glazing with gilded filigree borders; several teacups in this set show visible wear to the gold-tone rims. Another group of items consists of white ceramics decorated with transfer-printed blue floral patterns in an Oriental style.
The collection also features a set of dinner and side plates with cream-coloured glazes and gilded lace-like borders. One grouping of plates includes a central multi-coloured floral bouquet design with a molded rope-edge rim. Also present are white dinner plates and serving platters with molded spiral swirl patterns, accompanied by a boxed set of ceramic napkin rings decorated with sailboat motifs. A miscellaneous carton contains various teacups and saucers, including a turquoise-banded cup, examples with pastel blue borders and gilded geometric patterns, and a bowl with a central orange and brown stylized floral mandala.
One cup base bears the handwritten gold number 808. Other items bear printed or impressed marks on the undersides which are not clearly legible.
Condition report:
The collection generally shows signs of use consistent with age. Visible tea staining is present in the base of a pale blue cup (photo 3) and another white cup (photo 1). Surface crazing is visible on the interior of one cup (photo 3). There is visible wear and loss to the gilded rims on several of the cobalt blue teacups (photo 6). No major structural repairs or large chips are immediately apparent from the provided overview, although the items are packed loosely.
