Description
A Santas Gaream medical pedestal beam scale featuring a white painted cast-iron frame and platform. The weighing mechanism is constructed from brass and steel, comprising a dual-beam balance system. The lower brass beam is graduated from 0 to 125 kg in 10 kg increments with a sliding poise, while the upper steel beam is graduated from 0 to 15 kg in 1 kg increments. The cast-iron yoke assembly features an impressed mark consisting of a stylized X device above the text SANTAS GAREAM. A spirit level is integrated into the mechanism to the left of the main pivot, and a counterweight hanger is present on the right side. The scale stands on a slender cylindrical pedestal leading to a rectangular weighing platform.
Condition report:
The white painted finish on the cast-iron pedestal and platform shows significant wear, with numerous chips, scratches, and areas of discoloration visible throughout (photo 1). The brass beams and poises exhibit a dark aged patina with surface tarnish and minor pitting (photo 2). Surface oxidation and light rust are present on the steel components and the pivot assembly (photo 2). The mechanical function and weighing accuracy are untested.
