Description
This lot comprises two portable stereos. The first is a Sony CFD-980 “Sports” CD radio cassette-corder, featuring a yellow and dark grey plastic cabinet. This water-resistant model includes a top-loading CD player, a cassette deck, and a digital tuner. It is accompanied by a separate Sony AC-E90HG 9V AC power adapter with a two-pin plug. The unit features an LCD display and controls for Mega Bass and ESP.
The second item is a JVC RC-555LB stereo radio cassette recorder, manufactured by the Victor Company of Japan, Limited. The unit features a silver-tone front with an analog slide rule dial covering FM, SW, MW, and LW bands. The side panel incorporates connections for external microphones, a DIN record/playback port, headphones, external speakers (3.2-8 ohm), and a 9V DC input. A rear adhesive label reads ‘STEREO RADIO CASSETTE RECORDER MODEL NO. RC-555LB’ and indicates it was ‘MADE IN JAPAN 516’. No DC power lead is present for the JVC unit.
Condition report:
Both units exhibit surface dirt and signs of age-related wear. The Sony CFD-980 shows visible deterioration and a loss of material to the \'REC\' button on the cassette deck (photo 3). Its telescopic antenna is present but slightly bent at the swivel base (photo 1). The LCD display is functional when powered via the included adapter (photo 2), however, full mechanical and audio playback functions are untested. The JVC RC-555LB shows brown staining and residue around the side input ports (photo 8) and general grime to the speaker grilles. The telescopic antenna appears intact (photo 6). This unit is entirely untested as no power lead is supplied.
