Lot 105:
Description
A large square wall mirror featuring a multi-paneled frame in a traditional style. The frame is constructed with a central square mirror plate surrounded by eight smaller rectangular and square mirror panels. The borders are divided by molded and beaded dividers, further decorated with applied openwork foliate motifs. These include laurel-style swags and circular medallions featuring quatrefoil designs at the corners and mid-points. The entire frame is finished in a distressed off-white paint with visible texture. All mirror plates, including the central section and border panels, feature deliberate antiqued effects with widespread dark spotting and foxing to simulate age.
Width 114cm, Height 114cm.
Condition report:
The frame finish is heavily distressed with intentional simulated wear and visible texture throughout (photo 1). The mirror glass exhibits heavy deliberate foxing and silvering loss across all plates (photo 2).
