Description
3 cartons containing a collection of assorted theatrical memorabilia, primarily consisting of programs and costume masks. The lot includes programs from the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and the Royal National Theatre (NT). Visible titles include a program for The Witch of Edmonton by Rowley, Dekker, Ford & C featuring a black and white portrait cover with a white triangular graphic reading 14, and an RSC 50th Birthday Season program for Macbeth by William Shakespeare with a stylized illustration of a man in a red mask and crown. Also present is a Royal National Theatre program for Mary Stuart by Friedrich Schiller, translated by Jeremy Sams, featuring a photograph of Janet McTeer and Harriet Walter. A gold-covered booklet for Henry IV Part 1 & Part 2 by William Shakespeare features a large heraldic crest printed in metallic blue foil.
The assortment of costume masks includes a grey felt and brown faux fur animal mask with large ears, a gold-painted Zanni style mask with a long pointed nose and multi-coloured feathers and ribbons, and a gold-toned masquerade mask with lace overlay and fabric rose details. Additional items include a white and pink filigree mask with glitter and a weathered gold-painted half-mask. Assorted fabric fragments and ribbons are also present within the cartons.
