Description
This lot comprises an assortment of woven storage baskets and trays in various sizes and styles, constructed from natural plant fibres including rattan and water hyacinth. The collection features a large tapered cylindrical basket with two integrated arched carrying handles woven in a fine, tight rattan cane. Included is a square storage chest with a fitted flat lid and two inset rectangular hand-holds, finished in a traditional wicker style. A large shallow rectangular tray is also present, featuring two inset rectangular hand-holds and a decorative diagonal cross-weave pattern to the interior base. The lot is completed by a matched pair of small rectangular shallow trays woven from thick, braided water hyacinth, providing a chunky textured finish. There are no visible maker marks, signatures, or labels on the exterior surfaces of the items.
Condition report:
The items are in good used condition. Minor surface fraying and occasional loose ends are present, which is characteristic of natural fibre weaving, particularly evident on the braided water hyacinth trays (photo 3). The large square chest exhibits slight distortion and sagging to the top lid (photo 1). No significant breaks, heavy staining, or structural failures are visible in the provided images.
