Lot 121:
Description
This lot comprises a set of three pine dining chairs and a single wooden stool. The dining chairs are constructed in a traditional country style from pine with a honey-toned finish. Each chair features a shaped crest rail over four turned spindles, set between two turned outer stiles with finial tops. The solid pine seats are contoured and supported by turned legs joined by an H-stretcher. The accompanying high stool is crafted from a light-coloured hardwood, possibly beech, and features a circular flat-top seat. The stool is supported by four tapered legs stabilized by two tiers of circular stretchers. No manufacturer marks or labels are visible on any of the items.
Condition report:
The three dining chairs show visible wear to the finish on the seats and crest rails, including scuffs, surface scratches, and small indentations consistent with domestic use (photo 1). The stool shows significant wear to the lacquer on the seat surface with several areas of white scuffing and finish loss (photo 3). The stool legs show minor abrasions near the base (photo 3).
