Lot 101:
Description
4 cartons containing an assortment of silver plated household goods and serving items. The collection comprises a variety of hollowware including teapots, coffee pots, sugar basins, and creamers in several styles, from melon-ribbed and floral-chased designs to plain, mid-century examples with black composite handles. One octagonal teapot features a stepped lid and a black composite handle. The trays and platters include large rectangular gallery trays with pierced borders, oval platters with gadrooned or beaded edges, and circular salvers with chased foliate decoration and scrolled borders. On the base of a creamer, there are impressed marks, but these are not clearly legible as a name.
Condition report:
The lot shows signs of wear consistent with age and use. Heavy tarnish and oxidation are present across all pieces, with significant plate loss revealing the base metal, particularly on the embossed areas of the trays and high points of the hollowware. One circular tray exhibits green verdigris corrosion (photo 2). Several teapots have visible dents to the bodies and misshapen spouts (photo 4 and 5). Surface scratches and pitting are evident throughout the collection. The composite handles show surface wear and dullness but remain attached.
