Description
A carton containing a set of assorted glazed ceramic character busts from the British science fiction television series Thunderbirds. The collection comprises six distinct characters manufactured in England by John Beswick and modelled by William K. Harper. The characters depicted include Brains in a black suit with blue-rimmed glasses, Scott Tracy and Virgil Tracy in International Rescue uniforms with their respective light blue and yellow sashes, Lady Penelope in a pink pillbox hat and suit, Parker in his grey chauffeur uniform, and The Hood wearing an ornate Egyptian-style collar.
Each base features a comprehensive black printed backstamp including a circular crest with a central B inside a gear, with the words BESWICK and ENGLAND. The series title THUNDERBIRDS is printed in a large block font above the specific character names: BRAINS, SCOTT TRACY, VIRGIL TRACY, LADY PENELOPE, THE HOOD, and PARKER. The bases also state Issued in a limited edition of two thousand five hundred and are signed in print MODELLED BY William K. Harper. All six pieces bear the matching limited edition number 485 handwritten in green ink. Copyright information is present for 1992 John Beswick, 1992 ITC Entertainment Group Limited, and Copyright Promotions Limited. Various small inventory marks in ink are visible on the unglazed foot rims (photo 4).
Condition report:
The items appear to be in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, crazing or professional repairs (photos 1, 2, and 3). The polychrome glaze remains bright and lustrous across the entire set. Minor handwritten collector or inventory marks in ink are present on the base surfaces (photo 4).
