Description
This lot comprises a hand-knotted Tunisian wool rug. The rug features an all-over botanical pattern of flowering vines, leaves, and blossoms in shades of indigo blue, ochre, terracotta, and dark brown against a cream field. The central field is enclosed by a wide, salmon-pink primary border decorated with a repeating floral vine motif, flanked by multiple narrow geometric and floral guard stripes. The rug is constructed with a wool pile on a cotton foundation and is finished with cream cotton fringes at both ends.
On the reverse, the rug retains a partially torn adhesive paper origin label with printed text reading TUNISIE, GARANTIE D’ORIGINE, FAIT MAIN, and 2ème Choix. Printed field labels include Longueur, Largeur, Surface, Matière: Laine, Poids, N° Contrôle, Texture, and Date. Handwritten entries on the label include 166, 092, 1.53, 4.500, 0068, 40×40, and the date 21/2/82. A red serial number No 011835 is printed at the side. The label features a green circular stamp with Arabic script and a star and crescent symbol, and a small lead seal is attached via a white string.

Condition report:
The rug is in good overall condition with light, even pile wear consistent with age (photo 1). The fringes are present and largely intact, showing minor tangling and unevenness at the ends (photo 1). The origin label on the reverse is heavily worn, discoloured, and torn (photo 3).
