Description
This lot comprises a Japanese-made Nikon professional telephoto zoom lens with associated accessories. The lens features a metal alloy barrel with rubberised zoom and focus rings, a 70-200mm focal length, and a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8. A gold identification plate on the barrel is inscribed Nikon ED AF-S VR-NIKKOR 70-200mm 1:2.8G MADE IN JAPAN 304896. The barrel is further marked with red and gold lettering reading VR VIBRATION REDUCTION. A switch panel for manual and autofocus override is marked M/A M. The integrated focus distance scale provides measurements in feet (ft 12 10 8) and metres (m 3 2.5), alongside an infinity symbol. Focal length markings are present at 70, 80, 105, 135, and 200. A small green and yellow oval adhesive label reading NikonUSA is affixed near the identification plate. The lens is accompanied by a black petal-shaped lens hood, a Nikon front lens cap, and a Nikon rear mount cap.
Condition report:
The lens shows significant signs of professional use. There is heavy whitening, oxidation, and accumulated debris within the grooves of both the rubber zoom and focus rings (photo 1). The metal barrel and lens hood exhibit various surface scuffs, scratches, and finish wear consistent with heavy field use (photo 1). The front and rear glass elements appear clear and free of significant scratches or fungus (photos 2 and 3). A small amount of internal dust is visible between the lens elements (photo 2). The diaphragm blades appear clean and dry. Switches and mechanical rings move freely. The autofocus and vibration reduction mechanisms have not been tested for functionality.
