Description
A set of four gold-plated commemorative medals in clear plastic capsules. The lot was issued by the Windsor Mint in 2011 under the title The Life of Pope John Paul II. The medallions are struck in proof quality on a copper base with gold plating, each featuring a silver-coloured hologram inlay of the Papal coat of arms. The obverses commemorate the 1958 episcopal ordination, the 1978 papal conclave, the 2005 day of death, and the 2011 beatification. The reverse design is uniform across the set, depicting the Papal coat of arms with the legend LA VITA DI GIOVANNI PAOLO II and KAROL JÓZEF WOJTYŁA * 1920 † 2005. The medals are housed in clear plastic protective capsules and accompanied by a paper certificate of authenticity identifying the set as number 00008 from a limited edition of 9,999 collections.

Condition report:
The medals appear in proof condition with mirrored fields and frosted devices (photos 1 and 2). The clear plastic protective capsules show minor surface scuffing and dust (photos 1 and 2). The accompanying paper certificate of authenticity shows minor creasing (photos 1 and 3).
