Description
This lot comprises a pair of gold-plated commemorative medals from the Myths and Legends of Great Britain series, each housed in a clear protective plastic flip with a corresponding printed certificate.
The King Arthur medal features a reverse depiction of the figure with a sword and castle silhouette, inscribed KING ARTHUR. The St. George and the Dragon medal shows the saint on horseback slaying a dragon, inscribed ST. GEORGE AND THE DRAGON. Both medals share a common obverse design consisting of a radial geometric knot pattern centred with a small faceted blue stone, encircled by the legend MYTHS AND LEGENDS OF GREAT BRITAIN. The lot includes two white paper certificates of authenticity printed in English, German, and French. The King Arthur certificate is numbered 01184 with reference code 917.355.2 NAT. The St. George certificate is numbered 06489 with reference code 917.355.1 NAT. Both certificates feature a blue printed crest.
Condition report:
Both medals are in uncirculated condition with a bright proof-like finish and no visible surface marks, wear, or toning (photo 1). The faceted blue stones are securely set and intact (photo 2). The clear plastic flips show minor handling marks to the surfaces. The paper certificates of authenticity are well-preserved with no visible tears, staining, or heavy creasing (photo 1).
