Description
A set of vintage enamelled cast iron cookware by Le Creuset, presented in the manufacturer’s signature graduated orange Volcanic, or Flame, colourway. The collection comprises four lidded cooking vessels, including three saucepans of graduated sizes and one round casserole dish. The saucepans are sized at 16cm, 18cm, and 20cm, each featuring a integrated pouring spout and a turned wooden handle terminating in a metal hanging loop. The casserole dish, size 20cm, features twin integrated side handles. Each vessel is fitted with its corresponding lid; the size 16 lid is notable for its vintage crescent-shaped black knob, while the remaining lids feature standard circular black knobs. The interiors are finished in a contrasting cream enamel.
Visible markings include the Le Creuset name cast in relief on the lid exteriors and embossed on the phenolic knobs. The bases of each vessel bear a circular embossed stamp containing the brand name, Made In France, and the respective size numerals. The undersides of the lids are also cast with matching size numerals and France. At least one wooden handle is stamped with the brand name.
Condition report:
The set is in used condition with signs of age and regular culinary use. The orange exterior enamel shows visible white surface residue, chalkiness, and light scuffing, particularly around the lid edges and rims. The cream enamelled interiors remain generally intact but exhibit light staining, minor utensil marks, and some carbonisation around the top rims. The wooden handles show wear and darkening from heat and handling, with some minor surface cracking consistent with age. Metal hanging loops show light surface oxidation. The undersides of the pots show expected shelf wear and loss of enamel on the contact rings. One lid handle shows damage.
