Description

This lot comprises 2 albums containing a comprehensive collection of original colour photographs documenting Formula 1 and other motor racing events from the late 1980s and mid-1990s. The collection is housed in two separate volumes: a large yellow ring-bound album and a smaller black pocket album.

The yellow album focuses primarily on the 1988 Australian Grand Prix held in Adelaide. It features a wide array of trackside, pit lane, and paddock photography. Documented vehicles include iconic Formula 1 entries such as the McLaren-Honda MP4/4, Lotus 100T, and the Ferrari F1/87/88C. The album also captures imagery from the Australian Group A Touring Car era, specifically Dick Johnson’s Shell-sponsored Ford Sierra RS500, and aerial displays featuring F/A-18 Hornet and CAC Winjeel aircraft.

The black album concentrates on the 1994 Formula 1 season and includes several autographed colour photographs. Notable signatures include Damon Hill on a Rothmans Williams-Renault FW16 image and David Brabham on a Simtek-Ford S941 photograph. Other teams and drivers depicted include Michael Schumacher for Benetton and the Ferrari team of Jean Alesi and Gerhard Berger. The photographs are professional-style colour prints presented in clear plastic pocket pages.

Condition report:

The photographs are generally in very good condition, exhibiting vibrant colours and minimal signs of fading or environmental damage. The yellow ring-bound album front cover is detached from album. The albums show typical handling wear consistent with age, including scuffing and minor indentations to the covers. The plastic pocket pages are largely intact but may show minor surface scratches. All signatures are unverified and are sold as seen.
