Lot 77:
Description
A contemporary decorative cast sculpture depicting the bust of a chimpanzee in a pensive pose, with its chin resting on a hand and one finger extended downwards. The piece is constructed from a cast composite material, and finished with a textured faux-bronze and verdigris patina to simulate aged metal. The bust is mounted on a square, black-finished block plinth. A rectangular brass-toned metal plaque is attached to the front of the base, featuring the inscribed text OK. Now What? in a stylised script. The sculpture features detailed casting of the primate’s facial features and fur texture, which continues around the rear of the piece. No maker’s marks, signatures, or edition numbers are present on the sculpture or base. Approx. 34cm height x 16cm width x 17cm depth.
Condition report:
The sculpture is in overall good condition. There is minor scuffing and some small losses to the black finish on the corners and edges of the plinth base. Light surface dust is present within the deep crevices of the textured casting. The faux-bronze finish remains well-preserved across the bust.
