Lot 31:
Description
A collection of floral still life paintings, each executed in oil on canvas and presented in decorative frames. The group features a large-scale work depicting a dense, impressionistic bouquet in a white vase, characterised by heavy impasto brushwork and a splattered paint effect. It is signed P. Keeling to the lower right and is housed in an ornate gilt-wood frame with a linen liner and cardboard corner protectors. Another large work portrays a more traditional arrangement of white and yellow daisies in a clear glass vase against a neutral grey ground, signed Edward to the lower right and set in a dark wood frame with a gilt inner edge. The collection is completed by a pair of matching smaller studies of roses in vases, one featuring pink blooms and the other cream and peach tones. Both are signed Robert Cox to the lower right and are presented in uniform dark wood frames with gilt-finished slips. All paintings are executed on stretched canvas.
Condition report:
The paintings are in good and stable condition throughout. There are no obvious signs of significant paint loss, craquelure, or damage to the canvas supports. Minor surface dirt is present, consistent with age. The frames show light handling wear and minor scuffing to the edges; the largest frame retains its cardboard shipping corners.
