Description

A lot of two late Victorian or Edwardian hearth accessories. The first item is a three-sided leaded stained glass firescreen designed to stand before a fireplace grate. The front panel features hand-cut coloured glass panes in shades of amber, emerald green, cobalt blue, and ruby red, arranged in a geometric design around a central diamond and roundel motif, set within lead cames. The two side panels consist of textured, translucent colourless glass. The screen is supported by a dark stained wooden frame with turned column-style upright corner posts topped with turned wooden finials. The second item is a low-slung fender stool or kneeler, featuring a moulded hardwood frame raised on four low turned bun feet. The padded top is upholstered in a forest green plush velvet fabric featuring an embossed geometric lattice pattern.

Condition report:

The stained glass panels of the firescreen appear intact with no visible cracks, chips, or loose panes. The wooden frame of the screen shows age-related wear, including minor scuffs, paint splatters, scratches, and slight finish loss consistent with domestic use near a fireplace. The wooden frame of the fender stool shows typical scuffs, minor nicks, and surface scratches along the lower edges and corners. The upholstery remains in clean and very good condition with no apparent staining, tears, or heavy wear.
