Description
This extensive collection of United Kingdom postage stamps is presented across 7 albums, comprising a mixture of multi-ring binders and high-quality printed albums from manufacturers including Leuchtturm, KABE, and Stanley Gibbons. The collection spans from the mid-20th century through to approximately 2005. Included are significant definitive runs of the Machin series in various denominations and colours, as well as regional issues for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Guernsey. Commemorative themes are well-represented, featuring sets such as the 1977 Silver Jubilee, 1981 Royal Wedding, 1990 Kew Gardens, the 1990s Millennium series, and early 2000s issues including Ocean Liners and Trooping the Colour. The lot includes miniature sheets, booklet panes, and a set of 1994 postage dues. One binder is highly organised with detailed handwritten annotations specifying issue dates and technical details such as phosphor bands. The stamps are primarily displayed in protective mounts within the albums.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition and appears well-maintained. The stamps are predominantly in used condition, bearing various cancellations including circular date stamps. Some modern issues and miniature sheets appear to be in mint never hinged condition. Album pages show minor toning in places, consistent with age, but the binders and printed pages remain structurally sound with minimal wear. Centring varies across the collection, and the majority of perforations remain intact.
