Description

A hand-coloured lithograph by the Belgian artist Johny De Witte, titled Grote Markt – Brugge. The scene depicts the historic market square of Bruges, featuring the prominent medieval Belfry and the neo-Gothic Provincial Court, populated with figures in period attire and a horse-drawn carriage. The print is hand-signed in pencil by the artist to the lower right and numbered 108/500 to the lower left, where the title Brugge and medium Litho are also inscribed. Within the print matrix, the artist has included a signature and date reading Johny W 00 to the lower right, and the title Grote markt – Brugge to the lower centre. To the reverse is an original certificate of authenticity from the artist’s studio, De Kasteelhoeve-ter Madelstede in Gijverinkhove, identifying the technique as an original lithograph and watercolour (Originele Litho & Aquarel). The work is presented in a gilt-wood frame with red and green inner borders.
