Description
A suite of eight screenprints by British artist William Turnbull (1922-2012), created in 1999. The series presents a graphic exploration of numerical forms, specifically the digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 9. Each work features a central numeral in varying colours (green, red, and blue) layered with abstract geometric motifs, technical grids, and linear markings reminiscent of rulers or drafting scales. Each print is hand-signed Turnbull ’99 in pencil to the lower-right margin and numbered 3/5 in pencil to the lower-left margin, indicating a small limited edition. No printer’s or publisher’s stamps are visible. The suite is uniformly presented in silver-coloured frames with white window mounts.
Condition report:
The prints appear to be in good overall condition with no visible signs of foxing, toning, or moisture damage to the paper. The pigments remain bright. The mounts are clean and the silver-coloured frames show only minor surface wear consistent with light handling.
