Description
A high-quality contemporary walking cane manufactured by Classic Canes, featuring a decorative sterling silver handle and a solid ebony shaft. The handle is designed in the Art Nouveau taste with a gracefully curved form embellished with cast floral and foliate motifs, specifically pansies. The handle is mounted to a tapered dark-stained ebony shaft. The metal collar of the handle bears several stamped marks including the German national hallmarks of a crescent moon and crown, the 925 sterling silver fineness mark, and the maker’s mark AM within a rectangular cartouche. The shaft retains its original gold-coloured foil label with scalloped edges, printed with the text Classic Canes, EBONY, and the model number 4029.
Condition report:
The cane is in good overall condition. The silver handle shows light surface tarnishing and minor scuffs consistent with light handling. The ebony shaft remains straight with a polished finish and the original manufacturer label is still attached. The tip of the shaft is missing its protective metal or rubber ferrule, terminating in a bare wooden peg.
