Description
This collection consists of seventeen (17) modern era comic books, predominantly published by Marvel Comics with a specific focus on the character Black Panther. The lot includes the complete 1988 Black Panther four-issue limited series, comprising issues #1, #2, #3, and #4, written by Peter B. Gillis with art by Denys Cowan and Sam de la Rosa. Also included is Black Panther (1998 series) issue #13 by Christopher Priest, Sal Velluto, and Bob Almond. Modern Marvel titles featured are Black Panther #1 (2016) by Ta-Nehisi Coates and Brian Stelfreeze, Shuri #1 (2018) second printing by Nnedi Okorafor and Leonardo Romero, Rise of the Black Panther #1 (2018), and Falcon #1 (2017) from the Marvel Legacy initiative. The collection further contains Captain America #14 (2016) featuring Sam Wilson and Captain Marvel #1 (2012) featuring the debut of Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel. Promotional and Free Comic Book Day editions include Riverdale #1 (2017), 2000 AD featuring Judge Dredd (2017), Adventure Time (2018), The Avengers (2018) featuring a story by Ta-Nehisi Coates, and a split Overwatch / Black Hammer (2018) issue. Additionally, there is a Justice League promotional supplement produced for NME magazine (2017). All items are US editions and are presented in individual clear protective bags with backing boards. Several issues bear adhesive price stickers on the outer bags or covers with prices in Pounds Sterling.
Condition report:
The comic books are in overall Very Fine to Near Mint (VF/NM) condition. The 1988 limited series issues show minor spine ticks and slight corner softening consistent with age. Modern issues exhibit sharp corners, glossy covers, and crisp edges. There are no observed detached covers or significant creasing. Adhesive price stickers are present on the exterior of several bags or covers.
