Description

This comprehensive assembly of literature comprises a diverse range of genres and formats, contained within 10 cartons. The collection includes a significant selection of children’s and young adult fiction, notably featuring several works by Jacqueline Wilson such as Lola Rose, Love Lessons, and Girls in Tears. Other youth-oriented series present include Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (including The End and The Penultimate Peril), David Eddings’ The Belgariad, and Joseph Delaney’s The Wardstone Chronicles. Modern fiction is well-represented with multiple titles by Bret Easton Ellis, including Less Than Zero, The Rules of Attraction, and Imperial Bedrooms, alongside Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall and works by Susan Hill and Jodi Picoult.

The collection features a substantial number of literary classics from prominent series, including Penguin Classics, Penguin Modern Classics, and Oxford World’s Classics. These include titles by Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, John Milton, and Oscar Wilde. Non-fiction subjects include social commentary such as Owen Jones’s Chavs, religious texts like Hymns for Today’s Church, and craft guides including the Golden Hands series. Large-format and illustrated works are present, such as Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows, illustrated by Inga Moore, and various children’s annuals. The volumes are primarily mass-market and trade paperbacks, supplemented by cloth-bound hardcovers and pictorial boards. Publishers represented include Bloomsbury, Everyman’s Library, Picador, and Corgi.

Condition report:

The collection is in generally fair to good condition. Observable wear includes typical shelf wear, creasing to the spines of softcover volumes, and minor edge wear or chipping to the dust jackets of hardcover books. Some volumes show evidence of sunning to the spines or light foxing to the page edges. Occasional bumping to the corners of hardback boards is noted. The volumes remain largely intact and are housed in ten cardboard storage cartons.
