Description
This lot comprises a collection of approximately one hundred to one hundred and fifty 7″ 45 RPM vinyl records, primarily representing the reggae, dancehall, roots, and dub genres. The pressings were predominantly manufactured and distributed in Jamaica between the late 1960s and the early 1990s. The collection features records from several notable Jamaican labels including Studio One, Taxi, Joe Gibbs Record Globe, Xterminator, Jammys Records, Digital-B, Shocking Vibes, Techniques, Shang Muzik, Roof International, Super Supreme, Weed Beat, J.R. Productions, Redman International, Vena, Stage, Carter Music, Star International, Dynamic, and Pioneer Muzik. Featured artists within the collection include Barrington Levy, Dennis Brown, Buju Banton, Shabba Ranks, Freddie McGregor, Marcia Griffiths, Frankie Paul, Sanchez, Junior Reid, Cutty Ranks, Capleton, Ninja Man, Flourgon, Tony Rebel, Little Lenny, and Byron Lee and The Dragonaires. Many of the record labels are marked with the handwritten name DAVY or DAVY J in black or blue marker, suggesting a single-owner collection. The records are contained within generic white paper sleeves.
Condition report:
Mixed condition. These pressings are representative of Jamaican manufacturing standards of the period. Individual play-grading has not been performed; items are sold as-seen.
